Peach Palace Mezzanine by Purple256 Peach Palace Mezzanine by Purple256
This is Peach Palace from Super Mario 64. The base is cut out of foam board and the walls were cut out of mat board. Markers and colored pencils were used to draw and color almost everything except for the red carpet, which was cut out of velvet dollhouse carpet. All materials were purchased from Hobby Lobby. My goal is to eventually replicate the entire castle inside and out, but we'll see how far ambition takes me...

Thank you for the comment! Someday...maybe someday I will, lol. I think my original idea to build the entire thing from the ground-up and altogether was a bit too ambitious. I have decided that the best way to go about it is in pieces, even if they have to stay separate from each other. Then I'll maybe use Photoshop to make a composite and make it look like the entire castle!

Great job! When I first saw this I thought "what's with the screenshots of Mario 64?" Looking forward to seeing more.

Maybe I should put the monstrosities I did in a crafts class back up, you've almost given me the inspiration.

You should! If I remember right, didn't you do a papier mache Kirby once?

It's a Boo. I did the Black Mage Kirby out of paper coils glued next to each other, though I didn't get to put on the hat.

Wow this looks just like the actual castle. =O

I have a suggestion though, you could go over the walls and such with paints to give that shiny look. Just a thought. Looks great though!

Thanks for the comments and suggestion! I definitely agree with you, there. In fact, I even tried cutting grooves into the walls in order to make it look like there were individual bricks but they're not visible in the photo at all. I really appreciate you adding this to favorites, though!

Absolutely awesome! You seem like you wanted to pull this off and you have! You should work on the basement next. Got a lot of work ahead of you, but don't let that drown out the ambition.

Thank you, Derek! I really appreciate your comments and thanks for favoriting this! This was a lot of work but it was truly fun to get into, and it's nice to have some encouragement. :thanks:
I'm still up for expanding it, but I don't know what part to do next. I was thinking of finishing all of the first floor rooms first but maybe I will do the basement like you said since that'll be a nice challenge.
