I know...I've been somewhat...MIA...

I've been absent on some social media circuits (this one especially), but I'm never ready to hang up the hat on drawing...ever.  In fact, I've been wanting to get into drawing heavily again, as I've found some new inspiration, but I've just been procrastinating on actually doing it.  The reasons are kind of stupid really.  I was never any good at drawing with a mouse, so my go-to technique would be to draw stuff on paper, scan it, and then color it in Photoshop.  But I'm sick and tired of that technique now, as it's slow and tedious.  I am seriously thinking of getting a Wacom tablet as I think it'll be a great fit for what I want to do.  I still have the non-cloud-version of Photoshop and Adobe can pry it out of my cold, dead hands if they really want me to move to their cloud.  Seriously, after that and the shenanigans with Flash, Adobe just needs to go away...

:::Ahem::: sorry I digress...so I've been inspired by Patrick Nagel art to draw some 80s-style drawings of my own, and of course who else's face and physique is better to practice with than Nick Rhodes of Duran Duran?  I am a hopeless die-hard Duranie, I know...

Speaking of, as I mentioned at the beginning, I've been severely out of touch on a lot of social media outlets, but that doesn't mean I'm completely off the grid.  These days I've actually been spending most of my time on Tumblr and Instagram- the latter where I'm running a daily DD-centric blog called Flim. Flam. And Judy.  Check it out at your own (sanity's) risk!

All week, I have been working on a Javascript web game called the Duran Duran Kissing Game, trying to get it released in time for Valentine's Day.  Whether you are a fan of the band or not, go check it out: duraniearcade.absolutemario.co…

The game is written using HTML5, CSS3, and jQuery 2.2.  It may not work properly on all platforms (especially mobile), but that may change in the near future as I find time to tweak it some more.  You are encouraged to save your images via the "Download Image" button and share it across social media!  And most of all, have fun with it!

It has been well over a year since I have submitted anything on this site!  Life has just been extremely busy- mostly at work, though.  I feel like my responsibilities are increasing at such an exponential rate that I can't keep up.  I've always wondered about people who like clamoring to the top in their career and I once thought I was that kind of person, but more and more, I just desire to be an invisible worker bee for the rest of my life.  It is so much easier and less stressful.

I haven't stopped writing, and lately I feel like I should be writing as much as possible.  The last story I had ever published on here was my Skyrim fan fiction, Blood of Skyrim, and I just posted the 11th chapter of it, which was actually written more than 2 years ago.  Why I have kept it in hiding for so long, I'm not sure, but I'm glad to finally get it out there again!  More recently, I had started a story- this time, a completely original one, to keep up my writing chops.  I won't say much about it because I actually do desire to get it published for real, but what I will say is that it is another romance, this time between a teacher and a student.  Yeah, scandalousss...!  And it'll also center around the theme of music.  Yeah, that's all I can really say at this point, haha...

Other than work and writing, life itself has been great so far.  I saw Duran Duran live for the first time (yes, first time) and it was truly a dream come true because I got to be in the front row among many other things.  I almost don't want to see them live ever again because I know I will be hard-pressed to top that last experience, but I also know that is a ridiculous notion, so I will perhaps try to catch another one of their shows sooner rather than later.  Not sure about their 2016 tour, though, as I need to save my money.  I've been spending it too much.  But then again, if I don't see them in 2016 then who knows how long it'll be before they come stateside again...

Hope everyone has Happy Holidays!  And here's to a great and memorable 2016...

New blog

3 min read
In case anyone is interested, I have started a new blog on fatasum.tumblr.com

The whole reason why I created it in the first place is kind of a long one, but here goes...

I finally finished posting my College of Winterhold fanfic, Fire and Lightning, on FanFiction.net.  Everyone who started following the story on there requested that I start posting some miscellaneous non-story content after the last chapter for entertainment purposes which I gladly took part it and enjoyed very much.  The problem is, you're not allowed to post non-story content on that site or you could get your story/account deleted (it's against their Terms and Conditions).  I still wanted to go through with it, though, so that's why I created a Tumblr site and am beginning to post that non-story content on there, as well.  That's the purpose that site will serve for the time being, so if you're a Fire and Lightning fan, head on over there for some extra Fire and Lightning/College of Winterhold/Onmund-y goodness!  I'm also thinking of making it a personal blog, as well, and will have other posts not related to Skyrim at some point.

On a somewhat related note, I've started working on the sequel to Fire and Lightning, and I plan on posting that story on here and FanFiction.net starting by the end of the month!

Mods and Onmund

4 min read
This is late on the draw but I have basically started getting heavily back into Skyrim.  This time, my character is Danielle, a mage.  Her story is that she originally trained to be a priestess but then she has aspirations to join the College of Winterhold and learn Destruction magic.  She is also one of the main characters in my newest Skyrim fanfic, Fire and Lightning.

Being a mage and having mage followers has been interesting and I have to say that I've run into some pretty hilarious situations in the vanilla game- especially with Onmund as a follower.  But learning from both experience and reading about others' experiences, Onmund is one shitty follower to have, especially when the going gets tough.  But with the use of the Ultimate Follower Overhaul (UFO) mod (skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/1403…), he has ultimately become my favorite follower in the game.  The first setting that I changed was to make him essential, so that he never dies.  The guy just dies so easily in battle that this was a must!  I also set him to ignore accidental attacks from me.  I can't tell you how many times I've accidentally hit him with a stray fireball and it's nice to know that he won't ever turn on me.  And lastly, but not leastly, I can dress him in anything, which may imply some childish mischief, but really I just want him to wear more powerful outfits than his default Novice robes and hood.

However, this mod doesn't always play nice with the Nord mage.  It has brought to light Onmund's penchant for making other people very angry.  You see, UFO also allows me to have multiple followers, so when I have several followers with me and we're in the middle of the battle, it is not uncommon for me to see one of my followers suddenly turn on the poor guy and try to murder him because they happened to fall into the path of his powerful Lightning Bolts.

Oh well, at least Onmund is one (maybe the only) mage who won't bitch about carrying your shit.  "Really, J'zargo?  Not enough room to carry my stuff, huh?  What's all that empty space in your satchel, then???"  And, "I never asked you to pawn anything, Brelyna, so quit your bitchin'!"  Finally, Marcurio's the worst.  "I don't care what you say you are, asshole; hold my stuff, already!"  Onmund has also been a lifesaver in the wild, especially at night.  I'll be walking along at a leisurely pace and all of a sudden, ZA-ZAP!  "What the hell was that, Onnie?!  Oh, you killed that bear that I totally did not see that was headed right towards me.  Thank you, kind sir!"

Onmund...you've got terrible hair, an underbite that would make my orthodontist drop dead, and the naivete of a little boy but I still love you.
